This role will be responsible for the completion of Customs & Excise Administration, ensuring the Company is adhering to and complying with the company's external authority requirements and meeting excise duty responsibilities.

**Main responsibilities

  • Developing our customs and excise processes for the Group as legislation changes and be the go to for all excise related issues
  • Liaising with customers both internal and external, as necessary, to obtain information required to complete the appropriate formal excise documentation (eAD's) and instructions and to ensure that the correct monies are paid via the company deferment account.
  • Working closely with Stock controllers, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure that excise suspended stock is correctly accounted for.
  • Reviewing excise documents to make sure that all the data is present and correct before submitting to HMRC via EMCS and ATWD. Checking information such as VAT numbers, SEED Checks, Legal entities and any other details relevant to the stock control and release of excise suspended goods.
  • Compliance of the C88 forms, preferential origin & commodity codes
  • Ensuring EX1 documentation is accurate and correctly stored
  • Ensure supplier documentation and paperwork is compliant.
  • Uploading and sending documents to government platforms (EMCS) and establishments (ATWD)
  • Problem solving and liaising with internal & external customers to resolve any queries
  • Ensuring compliance of standard operating procedures for Customs and Excise processes

What's involved?

  • Complete the daytoday excise duty and stock control processes supporting the operations team.
  • Checking and creating documentation for imports, stock holding and excise duty declarations to meet government regulations.
  • Preparation and completion of relevant HMRC excise documents to submission standard. Creating eAD's, completing W5D's and W1's
  • Liaising with internal supply chain, finance, and warehouse teams, importers and others to obtain mandatory information for excise duty entries
  • Understand the HMRC/statutory requirements and how to meet these.
  • Be comfortable working with a variety of commodities.
  • Building and maintaining client relations for continued business and development.
  • Ensure all our fit and proper warehouse keeper regulations are met for potential HMRC audit

General duties:


  • Dealing with entry queries commodity codes, duty rates, licences and documentation requirements etc.
  • Calculation of Duty and other relevant rates per consignment.
  • Completing W5D's and W1's
  • Creating and closing down eAD's
  • Processing excise duty reclaims
  • Maintaining compliance with current and evolving legislation, laws and customs procedures

Requirements:


  • Ability to work with the EMCS and ATWD systems
  • Familiar with Warehouse Management Software
  • Experience and knowledge of performing excise duty entries via W1 and W5D form processes
  • Understanding of export/import procedure such as EX
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Confident communicator both written and oral
  • Excellent Problemsolving skills
  • A high customer service orientation with a passion for delivery quality
  • This role is predominantly work from home but will require travel to RG14
