    A fantastic opportunity has arisen within Bidvest Noonan for a Custody Detention Officer, who will work at our clients prestigious site.


    The main purpose of this role is to assist the Police with duties relating to the detention, security, welfare and administration of pre and post charge detained persons in police custody.

    Main duties and responsibilities of a Customer Detention Officer

    Assist in the booking in of evidence of detainees in line with procedures outlined in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), the Terrorism Act, the Crime (Sentences) Act and ACPO Guidance on Safer Detention and Handling of Persons in Police Custody and Service Policy;

    Assist in the preparation, completion and administration of all documentation, information and computer records/ systems relating to persons in custody including

    Custody and detention records including UKBA;

    Searching and updating Police databases;

    Management of property and bail records;

    Daily prisoner returns and administration for court; warrants;

    Performance indicators and statistical returns;

    CRO (Criminal Records Office) checks and all other identification/background checks and associated forms

    Creating and recording PER (Prisoner Escort Record);

    Apply control restraint techniques

    Arrange and accompany visits from the Police Forensic Medical Officer (FMO)/ Healthcare professional

    Conduct/direct searches of detained persons where authorised

    Job role requirements of a Custody Detention Officer

    3 GCSEs, (or equivalent qualification) grade C or above and must include English and Maths

    A full driving licence

    Previous experience of working in a large-scale organisation dealing with the public

    Strong customer focus in delivering and improving services

    Additional Information


    All successful applicants will be required to undergo the Police security screening process and complete and pass a 5 week training programme; a conditional offer of employment can only be made once the Police have confirmed security clearance and the training programme has been successfully completed.

    Thereafter refresher training will be provided and must be completed successfully on an on-going basis.
