NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles.
We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The Assisted Conception Service (ACS) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Band 7 Clinical Embryologist to provide cover for maternity leave for a fixed term of 12 months.
The ACS has undergone major refurbishment of laboratory facilities, outpatients and clinical treatment suite and re-opened in September 2014.
The facilities provide state of the art equipment and a comprehensive range of clinical techniques, offering a high standard of treatment tailored to suit individual patient needs.
The service is licensed by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) and provides semen analysis, surgical sperm retrieval (SSR), sperm cryopreservation, ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo cryopreservation, donor insemination, oocyte donation, oocyte cryopreservation, and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
The ACS laboratory delivers approximately 1100 cycles of IVF/ICSI, 600 frozen thawed embryo transfers and 300 IUIs with both partner's and donor sperm annually.
The Unit obtained an HFEA licence for clinical PGT in 2001 and was awarded National Service Division funding to provide a Scotland wide PGT service in April 2005 and delivers approximately 75 cycles annually.
