Working within the Land Systems Managed Support Service business the, Head of UK Equipment Support, will be a member of the Senior Leadership team.

You will be responsible for developing the through-life equipment support strategy for the UK market covering both Marshall and 3rd Party equipment.

You will drive market share in existing markets building on our proven capability in successfully delivering, and also grow into new markets through innovative solutions.

In addition you will oversee the programme teams within your domain to ensure P&L is achieved on existing and new programmes.


Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Develop a business strategy for the Managed Support Services UK market which encompasses ambitious growth plans based on relevant market analysis.
  • Understand market share in new and existing markets and focus activity where opportunities are greatest.
  • Establish partnerships with new customers and suppliers within new markets to drive growth plans.
  • Partner with Head of Sales & Business Development/ Sales Executives on future pipeline and work with this team to create capture tactics for sales targets that are in line/ exceed business targets.
  • Work with the customer to ensure your team have clearly understood the needs and that appropriate project structures and schedules are developed to support successful bid activities and subsequent delivery.
  • Liaise with existing customers to ensure the value they require is being created and delivered and that your programme team are successfully discharging their work activity in line with expectations.
  • Report P&L activities, results, market position, and projections with accuracy and promptness.
  • Provide strong and inspirational leadership to your team.
  • Drive team capability and build out robust succession and developmental plans aligned to meet the business strategy.
  • Coordinate and promote strong collaborative working across the organisational matrix including sales & marketing and key support functions (commercial, finance, HR).
  • Assist in the annual budget and forecast for the executive director.
  • Manage a team of Programme and Project Managers, Engineers, New Business Developers and solution architects, to win new business, deliver projects and ensure the financial performance of engagements.
  • A degree in an engineering or commercial field or equivalent.
  • A high level of commercial awareness and change management skills.
  • Very strong programme management skills and the ability to flexibly deploy those skills in accordance with the complexity and risk of underlying programmes/ problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communications, and comfortable presenting when required.
  • An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques.
  • Previous P&L ownership of a business area/ product line. Likely to have held senior management or leadership roles in a SME, or a Business Unit lead in a larger organisation.
  • Strong experience in identifying and proactively shaping business responses to customer problems.
  • Experience in driving business growth/ identifying new markets.
  • Experience of partnering with a range of internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing volume and complexity on programmes.
