    What you'll do


    To take technical ownership of the Vodafone Security Service for a customer account, support management and provide inspired technical leadership to a team of highly skilled engineers working on blue chip accounts that is strategically critical to Vodafone and the country.

    It is essential that the candidate will be able to interface with all levels of management and account teams both internally and with customer representatives, providing a "best in class" level of support 24/7.


    Responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining the smooth operation of all network security infrastructures including Firewalls/Internet Proxy's and IPS Essentially a support role, the core activities include customer liaison, diagnosis and resolution of faults, investigation into recurring issues, planning, and implementing of change, and offering technical advice.

    Additionally, the role requires the candidate to provide support to project management and solutions consultants in formulating designs, HLDs/LLDs.

    Candidates at times are also required to aid in project deployment and successful integration of the solutions into live service including the early life support and documentation.

    The candidate will also function as a virtual member of the Account team to provide knowledge and experience for customer escalations and on-going run rate and project-based opportunities.


    Specifically, this will include:
    Resolution of incidents, working to SLA's.
    Layer 2 and 3 troubleshooting, configuration, routine housekeeping, and upgrades.
    Planning and implementing of customer changes, based around an ITIL framework.
    Managing vendor fault tickets in accordance with SLA utilising escalations matrices where required.


    Taking an active role in own development including gaining industry recognised certification in the core products supported in addition to developing other technical and interpersonal skills.


    Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
    Technical Ownership of the Customers Security infrastructure estate, processes procedures, documentation and life cycle management contracted to Vodafone. Senior Technical point of reference for all Security related projects, Changes, or modifications to firewall rule bases.

    Senior technical point of reference/escalation and interface into vendor support for all Incidence related to the security infrastructure under Vodafone's contractual obligations, ensuring agreed SLA's/ KPI's are met.

    Design of customer networks including the support of High Level and Low-Level designs. Providing technical support, Production of customer documentation, Change management, for hard (physical) and soft (remote) changes. Customer inventory management, Hardware software, EOL

    To provide technical mentoring to other members of the team both junior and peers; ensuring best practice is developed and is applied in line with both Vodafone and Customer expectations.

    Work with the wider Peers in other accounts in VF VBPS/TCSO to ensure best practices methodologies, technical knowhow is shared across the teams and their members.

    Who you are

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience:


    At least 3 years' experience within Networking Security Design / Installation / Integration and troubleshooting and gained relevant Cisco qualifications.

    CCNA Routing & Switching and/or CCNA Security (CCNP Highly desirable).
    The candidate must possess detailed experience of supporting Checkpoint, Palo Alto, FortiGate, ASA/FirePower, Bluecoat, Citrix NetScaler, F5 and knowledge of Cisco networking solutions including all the major switching families and understanding of Wireless Technologies and Cisco IPT /QoS /802.1x/ Inflobox DNS,VPN Technologies (ipsec, SSL VPN, DMVPN and Wide Area network technologies including routing protocols.
    Experience of working on Cloud Technologies such as Azure and AWS. Basic understanding of Akamai CDN and WAF.

    Must have relevant operational and maintenance experience within a large enterprise company, with excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work both in a team and on your own efficiently and effectively.

    Must be able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, for both project and incident often with the customer/account team on your shoulder.

    Must be able to manage own workload to meet the demands of the customer, problem-solving experience of Linux Unix and Windows Operating System; PC Literate
    Must be customer facing and possess excellent communication skills, self-disciplined and self-empowered to deliver under tight timescales.
    Must be or capable of obtaining SC clearance.
