    Job Description

Dewpoint Therapeutics translates condensate biology into much-needed medicines. Biomolecular condensates are transforming our understanding of biology, and our highly collaborative team is at the forefront of efforts to harness this shift for drug discovery. Together, we are leveraging this transformation in understanding of cellular biology to discover and advance breakthrough therapies for the toughest diseases.

We are searching for a Lead Engineer to drive the ongoing design, implementation, and management of our tech infrastructure, data flows, and software development. The core focus of this role is on shaping the next generation of our tech ecosystem: designing the overall architecture, refining the roadmap according to strategic priorities, and collaborating with internal and external colleagues to deliver in an agile manner. Doing so successfully will require a combination of broad technical expertise, effective prioritization according to strategic outcomes, and the ability to guide cross-functional delivery teams. By continuing to develop the infrastructure, data layer, and software needed by our wet-lab and data scientists, you will be enabling and accelerating them to transform lives by discovering revolutionary new therapies.

In this position you'll be part of a purpose-driven and supportive startup team culture, engaged in continuous learning, and part of an exceptional international team. The role is within our Data Science and Engineering group, reports to the Head of Data Science and Engineering, and can be based either in Boston's Seaport district or in London. Dewpoint offers competitive salaries and great benefits.

In this role, the key responsibilities will be:

    • Providing technical leadership to the organization and owning decisions on the overall architecture of our tech ecosystem, including: (a) continuing development of our integrated data backbone and automated data flows, (b) building out developer-friendly and scalable infrastructure that enables our data scientists to build and productionize cutting-edge models, and (c) developing end-user applications to help our bench scientists work efficiently and effectively
    • Shaping our engineering roadmap and strategy according to the organization's competing and evolving needs, with a strong focus on end-user value
    • Working with product and subject matter expert colleagues to translate requirements from a wide range of internal teams and end-users into technology solutions
    • Managing teams of cross-functional colleagues to deliver against the prioritized engineering roadmap
    • Ensuring that the technology solutions developed together form an extensible, scalable, and coherent ecosystem
    • Building technical capabilities and standards across the organization, particularly of modern engineering practices (such as clean and reusable code, high testability and maintainability, DevOps etc.)

To do this, you will need:

    • Broad technical expertise across data engineering, software engineering, and DevOps / infrastructure architecture
    • Proven experience in a similar role focused on designing and developing secure and scalable data systems and ML-based infrastructure in the cloud
    • Experience working in a modern engineering / DevOps approach and with core cloud-native practices, such as infrastructure as code, scalable workflow orchestration, CI/CD, and containerization
    • Experience in cloud-based software engineering
    • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams to develop complex infrastructure and / or software builds
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues with a range of technical expertise and seniorities

It would be nice but not required to have...

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related technical field
    • Applicable relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    • Biotech or biopharma experience, ideally within R&D
    • AWS-specific experience
    • Software architecture and design experience
    • Experience in a startup or scale up environment

Dewpoint Therapeutics is the first company founded to apply the emerging discipline of biomolecular condensates to drug discovery. Dewpoint believes that a vast range of conditions have pathways that are regulated by condensates or arise from the dysfunction of condensates — including cancer, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disease. Dewpoint scientists are working in Boston, MA, and Dresden and Frankfurt, Germany, to translate condensate biology into treatments for the toughest diseases.
