    The Product Control Department is responsible for the validation and publication of a Trading Profit and loss for every EDFT trading desk on a daily basis. This will include agreement with the trading desk and a written explanation of the P&L movement.

    In addition a consolidated P&L is produced and distributed to Management including the monitoring of EDFT stop loss limits.

    Other responsibilities of the Department include:

  • Curve Validation to external sources
  • Monitor Futures reconciliations
  • Monitor Inter-company Balances
  • Various month end reports and reconciliations for Financial Control and Treasury
  • Prepare Daily summary of price moves
  • Position purpose

    To supervise & oversee the daily reporting, monthly responsibilities and any Product Control development for the Fuels (incl. LPG, Oil and Green fuels) and the Flow Power and Gas business'.

    The candidate will work within the Product Control team and will be responsible for the P&L production for the specific business units, consisting of mainly oil, Power and Gas based commodities. They will interact with Front Office and other departments on a daily basis to ensure P&Ls are accurately reported and key market drivers are understood.

    They will also produce some month end and audit deliverables and be expected to work on ad hoc projects to help the wider team and/or push the business forward.

    Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the P&L and month end tasks for the Fuels and Flow Power and Gas Product Control team
  • Key area is to supervise and be responsible for the day to day management of the PC analysts working the Fuels and Flow Power and Gas area. This will require managing and supporting the development of the analysts.
  • The role may involve production of some P&L's, but will also require a review of all the other books produced for the named business'
  • Work closely with the Front Office to ensure the P&L is understood and agreed on a daily basis, but also be first point of contact for non-standard P&L issues and escalation of issues
  • Prepare and present the monthly results pack for the relevant business units
  • Ensure review of the reporting from the new "PLATO" system is completed daily and challenged as needed
  • Share responsibility for reviewing and distributing the end of day consolidated management P&L for the wider business and Excom
  • Operational sign off responsibilities for new activity in the business lines
  • Ensure application of relevant PC accounting policies for the said business' are followed e.g. reserves, Day 1 and Observable horizons
  • Liaise with auditors on related queries and deliverables from a PC perspective
  • This list is not exhaustive and may include other tasks assigned by the manager.

    Experience required

  • At least 5 years experience in a Product Control Department and is able to demonstrate a good understanding of the control environment
  • Experience of commodities required
  • In depth knowledge of derivatives, including Swaps, Futures and Options.
  • High degree of skill in Excel (to macro level)
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Experience of manipulating data sets using tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI required
  • Technical requirements

  • Strong academic background with a degree ideally in a quantitative subject.
