The Apprenticeship and Widening Participation Team are responsible for clinical and non-clinical Apprenticeships, Widening Participation and Work Experience at the Trust.

The team are part of Workforce Education, which is a function within the Directorate of Workforce and Organisational Development.


Key objectives for this new and exciting role will be to support greater staff engagement in Widening Participation and Apprenticeship activities.

The post holder will be responsible for creating resources that enthuse and inspire, and actively promote Widening Participation and Apprenticeship and the Grow our Own agenda at the Trust.

This will be via various methods with a view to increasing awareness, understanding and participation. The post holder will also support Blackpool Teaching Hospital's Integrated Care Board (ICB) contributions and support local careers activities.


The Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire and operates within a regional health economy catchment area that spans Lancashire and South Cumbria, supporting a population of 1.6 million.

The Trust is a provider of specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology services across this region. The Trust does not operate outside of the United Kingdom.


The Trust provides a range of acute services to the 352,000 population of the Fylde coast health economy and the estimated 18 million visitors to the seaside town of Blackpool.

Since April 1, 2012, the Trust also provides a wide range of community health services to the 445,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre and North Lancashire.

The Trust also hosts the National Artificial Eye Service, which provides services across England.


A multi-channel marketing approach will be required to support Widening Participation and Apprenticeship activity across the Trust and the design of marketing materials, using both new and traditional methods will be key to meeting this need.

You will be responsible for enhancing and growing our social media and online presence, whilst looking for new and innovative ways to reach a diverse audience.


The post holder will provide administrative and project support to the Widening Participation and Apprenticeship team, in relation to Widening participation, apprenticeships and work experience.

You will engage both internally and externally in the promotion of Apprenticeships and Widening Participation at the Trust.

Internal stakeholders will be across the hierarchy, external stakeholders will include local Colleges, Schools and other organisations who support training, education and employment on the Fylde Coast.

System wide collaboration is also expected via the ICB.
