    This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing team. The team is expanding to provide a wider offer as part of additional national 'Best Start for Life' funding. You will work closely with partner agencies across Bolton as part of the development of the Bolton family hubs.

    Additional training will be provided to support your existing skills. The post is based in Bolton Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) which is a Parent Infant Mental Health (PIMH) service located in Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust, Bolton CAMHS Service. PAIRS has been commissioned to provide a clinical service and also provide strategic leadership, training and workforce development in the perinatal period up until the child's 2nd birthday across the borough.

    The service has good working relationships with the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Teams, Maternity Services, Children's Centres, Adult Mental Health, Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Services, Voluntary sector and Children's Social Care, etc. Bolton PAIRS provides a clinical service, training, consultation, and supervision across the large multi-agency network of mixed professionals.

    Main duties of the job

  • Ensure that interventions are planned in an integrated and co-ordinated manner particularly where dependent on other external agencies identified through supervision or complex case discussion.
  • To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation, from a psychodynamic perspective to other professionals, to assist in the formulation, diagnosis, management and treatment of clients.
  • To provide reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients.
  • Following consultation be responsible for developing care packages including assessing, planning, intervention and evaluation. Ensuring active involvement of parents and infants
  • To provide specialist psychotherapeutic assessments of referred families and identify collaboratively the most appropriate treatment for them
  • Participate in the development / delivery of a programme of training for other professional groups working in parent infant mental health service
  • Lead on programmes of audit and research within the team and implement the findings
  • Lead on areas of service development
  • Deputise for the Team manager / Clinical Lead in their absence
  • To provide Clinical Supervision both internally and externally
  • To contribute to the training experience of trainee Child Psychotherapists / Clinical Psychologists as appropriate.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    The role of the Child Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist in the PAIRS team is to ensure delivery and development of a high-quality parent infant mental health service which is underpinned by a psycho-analytical framework to compliment the range of psychological/therapeutic services within the multi-disciplinary service; working from families from conception up to the age of 2 years.

    Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Masters level preclinical training at a Association of Child Psychotherapists recognised training school; – post graduate doctoral level training in clinical child psychotherapy at a training school accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapy or Association of Child Psychotherapists Statement of Equivalence OR Doctoral level Clinical Psychology accredited by BPS / HCPC

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in relevant fields in health, social care or education settings

  • Experience of specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of families as a full member of a multidisciplinary team located in community, primary care, outpatient or inpatient setting .

  • Experience of working with families ante / perinatally
