An opportunity has come up to undertake the role of Substantive Dispatch Team Leader at our West Emergency Operations Centre.

As a Dispatch Team Leader you will directly supervise, lead and motivate a team of Resource Dispatchers in a fast paced role in an ever changing environment.

It requires quick and logical thinking as you will be responsible for rapid decision making in support of Resource Dispatchers who manage the deployment of various emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, rapid response cars and hazardous area teams, appropriately and timely to a variety of emergency and non-emergency calls taking into account skill levels and distances.

The role requires managing and supporting staff in line with Trust policies and developing an environment of continuous improvement.

Must have at least 6 months experience as a Resource Dispatcher

You will report to the team's Emergency Operations Centre Manager and may be required to undertake other tasks within a Dispatch Team Leader's scope of practice.

Responsible for providing support and guidance to direct reporting staff.

Manage all dispatch functions including radio channels, incident support desks and air ambulance support desk to ensure that the appropriate resource is dispatched to all calls with no delay irrespective of running time.

Monitor incidents that are likely to go out of standard and investigate in line with Trust policy ensuring lessons are learned and feedback to staff as required.

Monitor RD's to ensure all opportunities to divert resources from lower to higher priority are proactively carried out in line with deployment policies.

The post holder will be required to mentor trainee RD's to ensure they achieve the required performance standards against their KPI's on all dispatch desks.
