    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent role as Financial Controller to join the Smart DCC Finance Team working from either London or Manchester, minimum 8 days in the office a month and reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting & Control.

    The purpose of this role is to ensure effective financial and management accounting across the organisation by managing the development and adherence to financial controls and systems associated with the DCC business.

    The Financial Controller is responsible for the preparation, development and analysis of management and statutory accounting and other financial reporting and controls.

    The Financial Controller will support the Head of Financial Reporting and Control in the delivery of the wider Finance team objectives and the implementation of continuous improvement across the function.

    Supervise the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results and commentary on financial performance.


    • Oversee an appropriate control framework/environment for the business that meets our obligations as directed by the Licence, Smart Energy Code and both Internal and External audit.
    • Identify and lead the deployment of process and controls improvements linking with key stakeholders within Financial control, FP&A and Commercial Finance teams.
    • Build and own key internal cross-finance stakeholder relationships including DCC CFO and Heads of Commercial Finance and FP&A and their direct reports. Take and develop opportunities where possible to facilitate interactions with key External and Board level stakeholders managed by the Director and Head of Financial Reporting & Control.
    • Develop DCC's monthly reporting with input from FP&A and insight from Commercial Finance, Head of Transactions and Treasury Senior Manager. Through building a strong understanding of the projects and costs each year, ensure that Internal and Board reporting relevant to Financial Control provides the necessary key insight over KPI's, Income, Costs, Cash and key Balance sheet captions.
    • Support Cashflow forecasting process to ensure DCC maintains cash within required levels working closely with DCC's Treasury Senior Manager. Manage the year-end statutory audit process including the production of the year-end financial statements including disclosure notes. This includes production of the financial commentary to include in the Annual Report and Accounts and manage the submission of the Statutory accounts to Companies House
    Qualified Accounting qualification either CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience

    • Proven experience in a senior Finance line role with responsibility for delivery of controllership activities
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS, GAAP) and relevant accounting standards
    • Experience of using SAP
