    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Blood Transfusion Practitioner to join our Cancer Services team here at The London Cancer Clinic, based in our Duchess of Devonshire Wing in Devonshire Place, London (W1G 6JA). We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £48,998 - £58,790 per annum.

    The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is The London Clinic's dedicated cancer centre which comprises of 8 floors, including state-of-the-art radiotherapy & chemotherapy suites as well as 47 dedicated patient bedrooms. With the latest advances in surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, we treat an extensive range of cancers.

    Job Profile

    The post holder will be responsible for leading blood transfusion clinical practice across The London Clinic (TLC) and provide support to client sites in line with Service Level Agreements. The role will also involve;

    • Working closely with the Haematology Consultant, Blood Transfusion Manager, the Hospital Transfusion Team, the Hospital Transfusion Committee, medical, nursing and all healthcare workers associated with every aspect of safe blood transfusion.
    • To act as a resource and provide specialist knowledge and expertise in blood transfusion practices and processes for all clinical professionals within the Hospital.
    • In collaboration with the Hospital Transfusion Committee/team (HTC/HTT), to develop evidence-based protocols and guidelines covering all aspects of transfusion of blood and blood components, and implement these within the Hospital.
    • To practice clinically by leading, co-ordinating, supervising and evaluating clinical practice. Ensuring that all patients within the hospital have their transfusion needs assessed, that programmes of care are developed to meet these needs and are delivered in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.

    Skills & Experience

    • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration, or BT lab appropriate qualification
    • Master's degree (or working towards) in relevant field/or equivalent/higher post graduate qualification.
    • Significant post-registration experience within an acute medical or surgical ward, or in BT lab.
    • Significant clinical experience and knowledge within blood transfusion practice and policies.
    • Experience of teaching and assessing clinical practice.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under pressure and flexibly as part of a team.
    • Significant post-registration clinical experience.
