    We are excited to be hiring a new Public Health Lead to join our fantastic Substance Use Team, which is part of a larger Public Health Team within Surrey County Council (SCC).The team is based at Woodhatch Place and we work in a hybrid model, working either from a SCC base, out in the community or from home.

    26 days' holiday (prorated for part time staff), rising to 28 days after 2 years' service and 30 days after 5 years' service

    The Public Health Team sits within the Adults, Wellbeing and Health Partnerships Directorate and contributes towards the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, to reduce health inequalities so no-one is left behind.

    The Public Health team is made up of a variety of different roles, working collectively to reduce heath inequalities and improve the health of Surrey's population.

    The work offers the opportunity for professional development, engagement across a wide partnership and the potential to contribute towards better outcomes for our service users.

    Working in the Substance Use field at the moment is particularly interesting due to increased funding opportunities and partnership collaboration.

    As a Public Health Lead, you will be expected to work independently and manage a budget.

    This role will primarily focus on addressing harms associated with substance use, working with our community providers to ensure the provision of appropriate harm reduction services are available.

    It also involves responding to local and national directives relating to harmful substance use and to support the work in reducing drug-related deaths locally.

    As a Public Health Lead, you will be working closely with community providers, including community pharmacies delivering substance use services, homelessness charities, peer mentors as well as working at a strategic level with colleagues from Surrey police, integrated care partnerships and our boroughs and districts.

    There is an expectation that you will travel across the county as required.

    You will be expected to present and provide reports on drug harms – and other Public Health topic areas as required - using a range of different methods, including by virtual means, written reports, face-to-face meetings.

    Experience of working within the substance use field and a knowledge of harm reduction
    Ability to travel across Surrey.
