The Quality, Risk and Safety team for Maternity are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated individual to join our busy, friendly team and drive forward the work we are doing with regards to Quality and Safety standards and the NHSR and the Maternity Incentive Scheme.


Specifically the post holder will be expected to:

Be an authoritative and credible source of knowledge, information and specialist clinical advice in relation to Maternity Quality and Safety Standards, for example the NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme.

Ensure the Specialty meet as a minimum the National Standards of the Care Quality Commission and NHS Resolution.


Write regular accurate and legible reports on progress with achieving the National Quality and Safety Standards including Maternity Standards of the Care Quality Commission and NHS Resolution, including any challenges for escalation.


Provide leadership and specialist advice to, the maternity service_,_ regarding legislation, guidance and the regulatory framework relevant to the management of clinical risk and to improving clinical standards and patient safety.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced midwife with expert clinical knowledge.

The role requires the individual to collaborate with multiple stakeholders including midwives, nurses, medical staff, analysts, other governance teams and senior and divisional leadership teams.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or with relevant equivalent experience
  • Demonstration of ongoing professional development
  • A firm understanding of patient confidentiality, how to maintain it and laws related to it
Desirable criteria

  • Qualifications and courses associated with Patient Safety
  • Qualifications and courses associated with leadership
  • Qualifications and courses associated with service improvement
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of leading and coordinating Quality Improvement projects
  • Experience of working with external agencies and influencing change
  • Experience of working with external agencies and influencing internal change.
  • Evidence of using patient process redesign and/or other techniques to improve services.
Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Experience of NHSR/Maternity Incentive scheme work
Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria

  • Experience of successfully generating, reporting and presenting data

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
