    XEIAD are continuing to expand the Utilities and Defence Team in our Ilkeston Office.

    We are seeking an experienced and competent engineer to take on a leadership role within the organisation. Primarily focused on the Utilities and Defence sectors, their role will be to carry out assistance with Bids/Tenders, project management and mentoring of new team members. There will also be a requirement to support other sectors including Rail and Highways with concrete testing and survey tasks when required.

    Reporting to the Head of Utilities and Defence, the successful candidate will be required to take the lead role on a variety of specialist structural inspection and testing projects and subsequently be responsible for producing inspection and testing reports/drawings to a high standard. Responsible for ensuring the technical compliance of site works completed and for ensuring the safe systems of work compliance.

    A safety-first approach to operational delivery is critical with a focus on delivering the highest quality of service to our clients ensuring that projects are delivered aligned to our client's objectives and goals. Managing multiple stakeholders throughout the journey will be essential to delivering on this ambition.

    A background in specialist access and having delivered asset inspection or investigation projects utilising divers, abseilers or within confined spaces would be preferred. Equally, experience in Rail or Highways is preferrable although experience working in other comparable high-risk markets would be considered.

    The successful candidate will be joining the team at an exciting time with XEIAD having recently joined the British Engineering Services Group. The opportunity to develop in the role is significant with confidence in own ability and aptitude for ongoing learning key criteria in our selection process.

    Main Purpose

    To lead on all Sector related projects, providing technical advice to operational teams and to take on line management responsibilities for a growing team.

    Where required, to carry out onsite recce & inspection duties and to establish best practice ensuring that all site operations are undertaken safely, in accordance with client requirements and to the highest quality.

    To support development of a fully capable team and to champion best practice throughout our operations engaging with clients and the wider industry as required to deploy XEIAD Underwater and Defence services across the company and the wider British Engineering Services Group.

    Essential Qualifications & Skills

    • Level 5 qualification in Engineering
    • Associate Member of ICE/Concrete Society (or related organisation)
    • Industry recognised operational safety qualification (CSCS/PTS etc)
    • 5+ years operational experience including use of latest technologies and standards.
    • Team Leadership experience preferred.
    • Leading engineering projects in high risk environments
    • Strong data processing skills and data management experience
    • Effective communicator with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders
