    The roleAs a Senior Engineer – Submarine Combat Systems, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

    Joining the combat system assurance and support sections, you will play a pivotal part in providing assurance and support under the Chief Engineer.

    Day-to-day, you'll provide proactive technical support to our MOD customer, working collaboratively with other stakeholders across Babcock and the wider submarine enterprise as well as:Administering a database which provides assurance of weapon discharge equipment availability in Astute Class submarinesConducting supporting audits of equipment holdings and test certificationRepresenting submarine combat systems engineering activity in key internal and external meetings, working collaboratively with industry partnersActing as an internal subject matter expert on submarine combat systems, providing advice, facilitating coherent information exchange and conducting engineering peer reviewsDelivering in house combat system competency trainingThis position involves occasional travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.

    This role is full time, 35-hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of two days in the office/onsite and the remainder working from home.

    Essential experience of the Senior Engineer – Submarine Combat SystemsSubmarine combat systems including the submarine weapon system from an operational engineering perspectiveExperience and understanding of maintenance requirementsAn excellent communicator at all levels, both written and verbal.

    Capable of using Excel to populate a databaseHave experience of working with, or as part of, MOD/Royal Navy authorities and sound knowledge of their organisational structure, working practices and policiesQualifications for the Senior Engineer – Submarine Combat SystemsA degree in an engineering related discipline, HNC/HND (or equivalent) or relevant engineering experienceYou are a member of a professional engineering institute or actively working towards itSecurity ClearanceThe successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
