    Job summary

    We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our multidisciplinary Team within the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.

    Why?

    We have recently completed a service redesign/re-structure to enable our focus to shift towards health promotion/wellbeing and the prevention of ill-health. This has seen significant investment by the Trust to support new ways of working and as such we are in the process of creating several new opportunities and roles.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join and support us through this transition period and beyond allowing us to put staff health and wellbeing exactly where it belongs, at the heart of everything we do.

    We have secured a new operational service based at Winwick, Warrington and satellite units in the Netherton / Knowsley areas of Liverpool to support delivery of the service across the Trust footprint. We will also support opportunities for remote working in line with operational demands.

    Who do we want?

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Workforce Wellbeing Managerto join our team. The post holder will support the delivery of the Trusts Health and Wellbeing Strategic plan, whilst managing a team of facilitators to meet the identified mental, physical, environmental, and social wellbeing needs of colleagues thus improving workforce health across the Merseycare workforce population.Shortlisting planned for 20 May 2024Interview planned for 7 June 2024

    Main duties of the job

    The role of the Workforce Wellbeing Manager is to ensure that the Trust has the appropriate initiatives, systems, and procedures in place to maximise the wellbeing of colleagues. The post holder will be requiredto support the delivery of the workforce wellbeing strategic plan ensuring that there is strong and clear leadership and wellbeing intervention, underpinned by a proactive and engaged approach. This involvesusing evidence-based research to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate specialised programmes that embrace key employee health issues/risks and maximise employee engagement. The role will have middle management operational responsibilities for MCT's Health and Wellbeing agenda, whilst linking with Public Health Policy and principles to embed a positive culture across all MCT bases in respect of Health& Wellbeing plans

    Job responsibilities

    To support the delivery of the Trusts health and wellbeing strategic plan to meet the identified mental, physical, environmental, and social wellbeing needs of colleagues thus improving workforce health across the Merseycare workforce population.

    Utilisation of information/intelligence to shape workforce wellbeing service provision to plan and design future wellbeing programmes and campaigns.

    To provide management/ leadership to members of the H&W team ensuring clear objectives are set and monitored to support personal and professional development as well as ongoingdevelopment of the service.

    To lead the biannual delivery of the organisational Health Needs Assessment gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting health and wellbeing data and information for continued organisational improvement.

    Report and communicate findings to the senior leadership team and produce reports and recommendations to inform future wellbeing intervention.

    Develop, plan, lead, manage and implement accessible health and wellbeing programmes and training that deliver targets in line with Public Health Policy , smoking cessation, healthy eating/obesity reduction, alcohol reduction, work related stress prevention. This involves theinterpretation of national policy and the application of this to ensure that MCT applies this appropriately whilst meeting the needs of a diverse workforce.

    Support the development and implementation of a range of Trust wide H&W related policy ensuring compliance with professional guidelines. , Menopause Policy, Supporting Colleagues Policy, Physical Activity Policy etc.

    Evaluate, analyse, interpret and present health and wellbeing data and information. Demonstrate the impact on return on investment and cost savings in relation to sickness absence, improved performance and improved patient care.

    Report and communicate health improvements and declines to the senior leadership team and produce reports and recommendations to inform future wellbeing intervention.

    To continue to build, and secure strong relationships with regional and national partners including NHSE, NHS Employers, Cheshire and Merseyside Partnership.

    To represent the OHW service at relevant meetings / committees.

    To support the delivery and cascade a mental health first aid training (MHFA) programme integrated within divisions to support capacity building and offer visible, real-time signposting andsupport for colleagues with low level mental health needs.

    To actively work across, and within the Occupational health and Wellbeing management team to improve shared learning and improved employee wellbeing within the organisation.

    To oversee the development of a network of health and wellbeing advocates who will be integrated within divisions to pioneer and champion the health and wellbeing agenda offeringbrief intervention, signposting and support for teams and colleagues.

    Actively work to raise the H&W profile across the organisation and national footprint, developing relationships to enhance staff engagement with health and wellbeing.

    Contribute to the development of an OH&W dashboard that streamlines and displays key OH&W related information.

    Support other OH managers in maintaining the Safe, Effective, Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) Standards of Accreditation (Faculty of Occupational Medicine accreditation scheme which all NHS and commercial OH Services are required to achieve). Producing data asrequired for SEQOHS Audit and ongoing revalidation.

    Anticipate and resolve problems that arise during the development and implementation of the health and well being plans and activities. Use effective influencing and facilitation skills with key stakeholders and partners to achieve agreed system changes for the benefit of the Trust, itspatients, and employees.

    To generate and develop new business opportunity for the service, securing new business and being the contact for key partnerships.

    Identify training and learning needs of staff involved in employee health and work with Training colleagues to ensure appropriate training interventions are available.

    To co-ordinate the Trusts application for accreditations of health & wellbeing initiatives and award submissions

    Develop and maintain positive relationships with other Trusts and external bodies to develop and share best practice, and to promote a positive profile for Mersey Care

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential

  • Educated to degree level in a subject relevant to the role or equivalent experience
