    Full time
    Description

    Salary: Attractive plus benefits

Our Scrap Buyers are key members of our commercial team. Not only do they source and buy the material into CELSA, they also sell and promote the services that we provide.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a passion for generating new business, improving profitability and growing CELSA Recycling through the nurture and retention of our existing customers. You'll spend a lot of time on the road, visiting and sourcing suppliers covering the areas of North East, Yorkshire & Northwest of the UK.

    About the role

    • Sourcing scrap metal from a wide range of suppliers, sectors and industry groups
    • Grading and pricing ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as other recyclable materials.
    • Providing creative solutions to customer's individual needs, utilising CELSA's extensive network of transport and processing capabilities.
    • Growing the business and identifying new opportunities in advance of the competition.
    • Generating new business to achieve financial growth, improved efficiency and performance.
    • Building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships and keeping up excellent communications.
    • Negotiating contracts, improving prices and terms of business with suppliers, and reviewing opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
    • Providing support to other Commercial buyers maintaining and gaining new business.
    • Purchasing material, in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets. Utilising good knowledge of changing market dynamics to ensure that material can be efficiently processed to offer best value to customers.
    • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing, processes as well as new projects and activities.
    • Work closely with others in the recycling division and review opportunities for continuous business improvements
    • Support the overall buying & selling strategy of the recycling division.

You'll be a go-getter, someone who's always on the go and motivates themselves. You'll need to think on your feet and make decisions independently, making sure that the numbers add up. Of course our preference is that you'll have experience or knowledge of scrap metal (ideally ferrous and non-ferrous). What's equally important is how well you can influence suppliers to sell to us.

    About us

CELSA GroupTM, with eight million tons of ferrous scrap melted annually in its steelworks, is the second largest ferrous scrap recycler in Europe. The Group, in its firm commitment to the circular economy, provides an opportunity for waste to rejoin the circular economy, thus forming an integral part of the new products that are created in the production system.

Through the recycling of steel, which by its intrinsic properties can be recycled many times without losing its essential properties, we use 74% less energy, 90% less primary materials and 40% less water.

CELSA GroupTM is integrated throughout the steel recycling value chain, with companies dedicated to the recovery and treatment of ferrous scrap and other materials in Spain, Norway, France, UK and Poland for subsequent recycling.

Some of the services that these companies offer are the following:

    • Demolition: We are experts in the demolition of industrial complexes, buildings, metal structures, as well as railway and port infrastructures. We take care of the demolition, transport and withdrawal of all materials resulting from this kind of service. Our technical department, depending on the characteristics of each project, develops a work plan foreseeing the mechanical and human resources required to guarantee an efficient and safe job.
    • Collection and Treatment of scrap: We have the necessary facilities and processes to treat ferrous scrap and supply to the mills the quality required for their production processes. The main sources of steel scrap come from the obsolescence of consumer goods such as automobiles, electrical appliances, steel cans, construction and old structures, without forgetting the scrap metal from industrial waste.
    • Vehicle pickups and drop-offs: We provide a vehicle collection service for final destruction and we take care of the relevant administrative procedures.
    • Non-ferric collection and treatment: We have the necessary facilities and processes to treat the materials we receive and supply to the mills, and to recyclers with the quality required for their production processes. We have collection and storage plants, induction separation plants, metal flotation plants, glassblowing separation plants, knife mills, shears and manual picking zones.

CELSA GroupTM supports change towards an efficient economy by using resources. In this way, the last investments carried out have aimed at increasing the percentages of recovery and the opening of new lines of business, like plastics or wood, thanks to the application of pioneering techniques in the recovery of materials and recycling.
