    Maternity Cover

We are a growing psychology team, who are passionate about the care we provide to the people we work with and the support we provide to each other and the wider team.

The opening is for a Band 7/8a Clinical Psychologist ( WTE) to cover maternity leave within our Perinatal / Maternal Mental Health Services. We are happy for the successful applicant to work remotely. The role involves providing individual and systemic support to women/birthing people and their families within the community and the Mother and Baby inpatient unit.

Within the perinatal/maternal mental health speciality we work with mental health difficulties around the transition to motherhood, including attachment difficulties, trauma and loss, tokophobia, puerperal psychosis as well as mood and anxiety presentations.

There will be opportunities to provide supervision and consultancy, deliver training, attend workshops and annual forums, and develop an area of specialist interest and one's own style of working.

All candidates should be registered with the HCPC, eligible for BPS Chartered Status, meet the travel requirements, and have an interest in trauma, grief work and perinatal psychology. A welcoming team and glorious countryside awaits.

    Main duties of the job

If appointed, you will join a passionate and experienced MDT and be responsible for the provision of community based specialist clinical psychology services for women/birthing people who are pregnant, postnatal, or have experienced a loss and are presenting with a wide range of complex and severe mental health problems, as well as systemic support for their partners.

The role involves helping to formalise referral pathways, assessment and treatment protocols as well as attending community MDT meetings, triaging referrals, assessing and signposting to other services, and liaising with midwifes, obstetricians, as well as primary, secondary and third sector care providers.

There will be a strong focus on supporting the continued development of a psychologically informed trauma focus of care within maternity services, providing supervision/training, and utilising research skills for audits, evaluations, and service development.

    About us

The service consists of a 6-bed inpatient unit, a community team with bases in Derby and Chesterfield, and a new maternal mental health service across Derbyshire (MMHS).

The inpatient and community services are accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, highlighting the excellent and specialized care provided by the service. The MMHS sits within the perinatal service and has close links with maternity services.

The team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, CPNs, nursery nurses, OTs, team leads, specialist midwives, peer support workers, a social worker, and a service manager, who all possess great enthusiasm and a strong passion for working with women and their families during the perinatal period.

The Trust psychology department facilitates specialized supervision (dissociation, EMDR, CFT) and training (trauma, CBT), supports CPD, and has good links with university training courses in terms of teaching opportunities, trainee selection and placements. DHCFT goes above and beyond to ensure staff are looked after and feel supported.
