    Account Manager - Specialist Services IRM

    Location - Midlands

    A quick look at the role:

    The IRM Account Manager is responsible for maintaining, developing new and growing existing service provision on customer sites with regards to waste disposal and resource management. The Account Manager will also identify and implement new and best practices to provide first-class customer service and account management.

    The role will ensure the infrastructure is in place to enable the business to be able to respond quickly and effectively to clients needs which is return will result in first-class customer service.

    The Account Manager will continually strive for improvements in performance of the contract which will advantage the client and also our business in areas such as EBIT targets, recycling and resource initiatives, legislative compliance and health & safety.

    The role will be part of our Specialist Services Division and this is where we provide businesses with solutions for waste made up of unknown substances. We offer a variety of solutions to suit business needs and this includes; hazardous waste removal, bulk liquid disposal, compactors/balers, industrial cleaning and Integrated Resource Management (IRM).

    • Primary interface between the company and ALL client stakeholders, responsible for ensuring strategic business account plans are implemented, service success, safety culture, contract compliance, retention, and pricing negotiations.
    • Grow accounts by way of improved commercial performance, upselling (such as equipment, increased services, Company Shop Group opportunities, and/or additional sites), new stream generation and commercial negotiation through third party suppliers.
    • Produce monthly reports and detailed management information as well as producing a bespoke group reporting for clients with multiple sites and managing data uploading into bespoke client portals.
    • Implement site waste minimisation programmes against set improvement targets and strategic plan as well as the implementation of initiatives to reduce cost, improve environmental performance and improve general waste handling practices.
    • Manage monthly profit and loss across designated portfolio.
    • Possess a high level of sector expertise and understanding, across several disciplines (such as Health and Safety, Duty of Care, resource management, hazardous waste management), to subsequently identify new business development opportunities within a client's business for Biffa to add value to the relationship.
    • Lead the Safety Culture on client sites by giving direction, guidance, and coaching with regards to working practices to all onsite operatives, both directly employed and agency staff, as well as interacting client staff, ensuring that all relevant health and safety procedures are understood and adhered too.
    • Provide Contract Manager support to colleagues/client sites as part of a team to afford additional resources for large-scale projects, emergency services, industry specialist knowledge, common legislative requirements that may fall outside of immediate personal portfolio.

    Requirements

    Here's what we require:

    • Experience in a similar position or responsibility in services or the manufacturing industry would be ideal.
    • Previous experience in account management with an operational bias would also be advantageous.
    • Experience of people and health and safety management.
    • An understanding of lean methodology and the ability to work to clearly defined KPIs.
    • Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an Operational/Service environment.
    • The ability to work within a commercially driven and time-critical environment.
    • Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation.
    • Strong presentation, negotiating and influential skills.
    • Excellent communication skill with the ability to communicate in writing, on a one to one basis and via the phone with all levels including management, team members and internal/external customers.
    • Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively.
    • Full current UK Car Driving licence.
