About CRES

CRES and Location Strategy operates within the Group Service Company and is a centralised, global function, which supports the business by delivering and operating its real estate and location strategy.

CRES has an operational presence in over 40 countries, comprising c.180 internal and c.8,000 outsourced colleagues and is diverse in its specialisms covering everything from Location Strategy, Portfolio Optimisation, Workplace design, Engineering, Colleague Experience, Facilities Management, Transport Services, Construction Project Management and Environment and Health & Safety.

CRES is one of the Banks 32 Transaction Cycles.

This role will operate as a director in the Run arm of CRES within the Capital Projects and Workplace team, responsible for delivery of the Barclays Capital Plan.

Overall purpose of role

Primary responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of Capital Projects & Programmes for the Bank, both in the UK, EMEA and Globally as required.

The Role sits pivotally in the delivery of projects integrating the asks from Engineering and Infrastructure, Operations, The Design House, MAC team, GTIS, CSO, Brand etcThe role will require excellent client-side project leadership and commercial management to all project activity and will ensure compliance with all necessary Reporting, Governance, and control requirements.

The role currently has no internal report but will have responsibility for the development and deployment of an extensive supply chain.

Key Accountabilities

Commercial
Responsible for developing the strategy and delivering of the Capital Investment plan for the bank,
Responsible for the delivery of key financial targets against the Capital Investment Plans through the development of a strategic innovative approach to market which challenges market norms.
Support championing the benefits of a global approach across all asset classes with particular focus on technology users trading floors, corporate HQs, and call centres.
Responsible as part of the team for identifying and developing opportunities for improvement across Capital Projects and benchmark both the service and the effectiveness of the function on a regular basis
Owns the active review of process and control to ensure world class programme delivery
Customer
Responsible for ensuring robust engagement with key executive stakeholders within Barclays to gain support for both strategic investment programmes and transformational change in the category.
Responsible for defining Capital Projects material that can be used to inform senior leaders within the business of key risks and challenges relating to the category.
Responsible for the development of an engagement tool kit relating to Capital Projects which can be cascaded to both the site and project leadership and specialist functions within CRES.
Responsible for ensuring that Capital Projects standards and policies are applied on a project basis.
Responsible for ensuring overall alignment of strategies with business strategies and priorities between the Stakeholder Businesses.
Leadership and Teamwork
Support the Head of Capital Projects in driving the global agenda.
Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to ensure an integrated and global approach to Capital Projects.
Responsible with peers for the national and local strategic supply base.
Delivery
To set realistic but aggressive project goals, and to deliver on time and on budget without fail
Have an acute view on project risk and market risks.
