    Default job background
    Permanent
    Description

    Job summary

At North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) things are changing.

It is an exciting time to join us as we work with the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London to launch the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine in 2025. Our vision is to be a leading organisation for medical leadership, education and training.

As an improving integrated care trust we are now investing in new medical leadership posts as part of our overall strategy to become a genuinely clinically-led organisation. These are part of a wider structural change that gives clinicians greater responsibility for the services they deliver.

We are now looking to recruit a number of Consultant Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturers, who will work collaboratively with Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, whilst also embedding themselves as a practising clinician within their relevant clinical specialty at North Cumbria Integrated Care.

To be successful you will have the skills, energy and enthusiasm to drive the change and innovation to help us deliver the best possible care. You will add a strong clinical voice to our leadership team and contribute to a culture which values professional excellence and enables our clinicians to be the best they can be.

The closing date for applications is 9 June 2024, with interviews to take place on Thursday 11th July 2024.

    Main duties of the job

This is a joint post between North Cumbria Integrated Care and the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.

A percentage of this role will be spent working as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer forthe Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, a collaboration between Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria. As a General Physician / Surgeon, you will be working as one of the subject leads for general medicine / general surgery, developing and delivering the curriculum, from the anatomy and pathophysiology to the design of suitable clinical placements across the Cumbria region.

The other part to the post will be as a practising clinician, embedded in the relevant clinical service within the Trust. Consultant job descriptions are available for each service, and can be shared for your speciality upon request, including details of the service, staffing establishments and an example job plan.

    About us

Alongside the opening of the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, the Trust currently has a £40m development programme for our West Cumberland Hospital site, and plans for a new £20m Community Diagnostic Centre proposed to open in 2024.

Due to our geography we deliver a broad range of clinical services which are not typically found in other district general hospitals.

We are fortunate to be located in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, with the Lake District on our doorstep.
