We are looking for someone to join our small resuscitation team to be responsible for delivering paediatric and some adult resuscitation courses.

Not only will you be involved in teaching a variety of staff from across the trust, there will also be an opportunity to engage with the wider community via our partner organisations such as North East Ambulance service (NEAS) and Health Education North East (HENE).


  • To provide appropriate and effective resuscitation training to all grades and disciplines of staff throughout the trust with a particular emphasis on delivery of paediatric resuscitation.
  • Provide resuscitation training within the guidelines of the trust, the RCUK and the ALSG & assist in disseminating / implementing any changes to those guidelines.
  • The resuscitation officer (Paediatric) will be responsible for the planning, organisation and delivery of basic, immediate and advanced paediatric life support training throughout the trust as well as supporting all other aspects of departmental training.
  • In conjunction with the senior resuscitation officer will develop the paediatric aspects of the service.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships throughout the hospitals clinical and educational networks.
  • Maintain a support network for staff and trainers involved in prevention of patient deterioration / resuscitation issues within the remit of the post.
  • Support the Senior Resuscitation Lead in the running of the resuscitation service within the organisation.
  • Deliver education and training around Resuscitation and the prevention of deteriorating patients.
  • Coordinate and participate in local and national audit and ensure policies comply with guidance from the Resuscitation Council (UK).
  • The post holder will support the ICORE values of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.

  • To assist in the planning, organisation and implementation of resuscitation training and education both within the trust and to external organisations in accordance with the trust, RCUK and ALSG guidelines.
  • To respond to paediatric and adult emergency and cardiac arrest calls, both leading and operating as a team member as required.
  • Participate and practice autonomously in areas of prevention of patient deterioration and resuscitation.
  • Provide/coordinate specialist education and training to staff and students from all disciplines within the organisation.
  • Participate in clinical audits relating to resuscitation.
  • Support the senior Resuscitation Lead in the service provision or project management.
  • Actively engage in public engagement opportunities as required.
