Description

We are looking for a qualified, enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Health Play Specialist to join our expanding Play Service at the Evelina London Childrens Hospital.


This is a 1 year fixed term post to set up a new service supporting our Paediatric Outpatients and Eye department ,with a possibility, dependent on experience to be extended a further 6 months.

We welcome applicants from students completing their foundation degree/apprentice in Health Play Specialism this year.


We are looking for someone who is empathetic, fun and able to adapt to patients individual needs and good time management.


The applicant will be required to support a welcoming play environment and develop materials to guide children through their experience.

You will work alongside an experienced MDT and be adaptable with good communication skills.


The post holder will be expected to work as part of a large MDT within the Evelina London Childrens Hospital.


The applicant will be required to implement play interventions in a busy environment ,and will be required to use their knowledge and skills in providing appropriate preparation and distraction for various procedures.

Mentoring/supervision will be given by the Evelina Play Manager.

Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services.

We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it.

Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.


Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations.

Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.

To provide safe, individualised play support, distraction and supervision to children attending Outpatients.

Develop resources to guide children through the experience and ensure a welcoming, play environment

Mentoring/supervision will be given by the Evelina Play Manager.
