The role
As a Principal Project Planner, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.
As a Planning Specialist, you will develop complex design & build programme schedules and you will be responsible for leading a team in ensuring the plan is accurately reflecting the optimised build methodology to deliver successful outcomes.
This role will work on complex ship design & build programmes and in support of multiple projects leading on developing fully integrated project plans, identifying key dependencies (including resource & material requirements), allocation of budgets, detailed progress reporting and scenario planning, and other detailed scheduling tasks to support delivery teams.
Day to day, you'll develop/implement and maintain the project structures, as well as:- Develop/baseline and maintain the project integrated schedule. (level 1-4)
- Ensure alignment between the integrated scheduling toolset and the companies financial and material demand toolset. This includes alignment of any level 4/5 production planning schedules.
- Regular status update of the integrated schedule and the provision of metrics (e.g., critical path/total float) and schedule analysis of the impact to the project.
- Resource/cost loaded schedules to inform the IBP and to provide financial status of the project
Essential experience of the Principal Project Planner
- Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector
- Experience in various contracting methodologies
- Advanced knowledge of scheduling toolsets e.g., Primavera/MSP etc
- Quantitative risk analysis experience
- Forensic planning
- Full project lifecycle experience from bid phase through to close out
- Worked on multiple projects of varying products and services and across several lifecycle phases
Qualifications for the Principal Project Planner
- Ideally a bachelor's degree in engineering/project/construction management or a related field
- A postgraduate qualification is also desirable, as is membership in a professional body
- Have a professional qualification (e.g., APM/ACostE/RICS or equivalent)
- APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ)
- APM Project Planning & Controls
- Practitioner
- Earned Value Management Practitioner
