OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB


To provide a safe, stimulating and varied programme of play for children with special needs in our multifunctional children's facilities.

This role will take place during
school holidays only such as Easter, Summer and Winter school holidays.


Hourly Rate:

£11 per hour


Hours of Work:

Activity Room Supervisor holiday scheme - times are 9.30-3pm. Must be available for at least one shift per week during the school holidays

  • This is a temporary casual role which may become permanent in the future._

About The Role

JOB PROFILE & PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • To ensure the opening and closing of the Children's Centre and secure the lock up of the building including the outside play area.
  • To ensure the Children's Centre is clean and prepared with toys being stored correctly after each session.
  • To ensure appropriate play materials/toys are set out prior to the children/s attendance.
  • Supervise all personnel in the Children's Centre to include all children with special needs, young carers and care attendants.
  • To be responsible for the Health, Safety and Welfare of all people in the Children's Centre.
  • In conjunction with the Monitoring Services Manager compile and review service users individual profiles and risk assessments.
  • To contribute to the maintenance of records including daily observations in a clear, detailed and accurate manner using Microsoft Office packages.
  • Provide all necessary support to the Monitoring Services Manager to ensure the efficient, effective and most economical running of the Children's Centre.
  • In conjunction with the Monitoring Services Manager, assist with the preparation of monthly information for Head Office to ensure the overall effectiveness of the organisation is met.
  • To be available to work extra hours during the school holidays and to cover holiday and sickness leave.
  • To ensure confidentiality of information relating to children and families at all times.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Attend all training programmes to adhere to current legislation.
  • Actively assist and promote fundraising activities when requested.
  • To effectively communicate with service users, work colleagues and managers.

Please note that the post holder is required to carry out tasks across all divisions of Crossroads Care NI - Charitable Group.

Personal Specification

  • An ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people with a pleasant, approachable and nonjudgemental manner
  • An ability to exercise excellent time management and be able to work to deadlines and under pressure
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills
  • IT literate with an ability to effectively use Microsoft Office packages
  • An ability to use written communication to produce clear and concise reports and documents

Required Criteria

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Evidence of supervisory / management experience
  • Minimum of one year's working experience of dealing with and being responsible for children
  • Able to reliably commute to place of work
  • Computer literate

Desired Criteria

  • IT qualification (ECDL, Clait or equivalent)
  • Evidence of working with children with special needs and willingness to undertake a recognised qualification in childcare
