    Description

    The post-holder will be part of the teaching team in English and will deliver modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a particular focus on the BA (Hons) English and Creative Writing. They will have expertise in writing prose fiction, covering modules related to writing short stories and the novel. The candidate should also be prepared to teach creative non-fiction. They will have a track-record of publications and external engagement which will contribute to the work of the creative writing research cluster in English.

The Institute of Creative and Critical Writing, based within the College, runs an outstanding enrichment programme comprising masterclasses, guest seminars, and public events.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design and delivery of teaching and assessment for taught courses.
  • Production and dissemination of research outputs – which includes creative works – and contribution to the development of research proposals for funding.
  • Academic administration.
  • Pastoral support of students.
  • Recruitment and outreach activities.
  • ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have published or presented their writing and research externally (essential)
  • Have experience of teaching and assessing student work at undergraduate level (essential)
  • Have experience of teaching and assessing student work at postgraduate level (desirable)
  • Hold a PGCertHE teaching qualification or be accredited via the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education (desirable)
  • Have experience of leading research funding proposals (desirable)
  • Have experience of higher education quality processes (desirable)
