Hours per week: 21, hours to be confirmed. Days - Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.


We are looking for a hardworking, fun, motivated customer service orientated person with high levels of attention to detail to join the dispensary team at this lovely rural practice in Cradley, WR13 5LT (not Cradley Heath).


The role includes dealing with the processing of all relevant prescriptions as authorised by the practice doctors where appropriate and in accordance with the principles of good practice as described in the DDA Dispensing guidelines (we dispense medication to over 95% of our patients and have 3500 patients currently).


The right person for this role will have a keen eye for details, be able to work as part of team and also alone.

It's a busy practice but fun and "family orientated". We are now looking for our next "family" member. Elements of this role are new and so the ability to be flexible and receptive to change is essential.


Main Duties
The following are the non-exhaustive core responsibilities of the dispenser / script clerk.

There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a.

To process all relevant prescriptions in a timely manner and in accordance with good practice as outlined in the DDA dispensing guideline and departmental Standard Operating procedures, adhering to strict review dates so that medication which has exceeded the date is not issue without doctor authorisation.

b.

To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or the dose or labelling that this is checked with the authorising doctor and clarification sought prior to dispensing and that all items dispensed are checked by another colleague prior to being given to the patient in accordance with department rules.

c.

Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable and ensuring that all procedures are carried out for the checking of deliveries and filing of paperwork.

Additional reporting of errors.

d. Supporting the processing of repeat prescriptions, ensuring a 72-hour turnaround is achieved and also monthly repeat ordering.

e.

To be responsible for the adding requests for prescriptions onto patients records using a set protocol and ensuring that a clinician is passed any that do not meet the set criteria for them to action.
