    We're recruiting am Standby Shop Assistant for our wonderful shop in Litchfield a well-established shop in the heart of the community that's well supported by our fantastic customers and wonderful donations

    Our generous supporters donate a mixture of clothes, books, toys, household goods and soft furnishings that we sell in our shops and online. All the money raised goes towards enabling Blue Cross to support sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.

    More about the role

    As a Standby Shop Assistant you will assist the Shop Manager to achieve and maximise shop sales and profit and to identify other income opportunities for the shop. To help manage and motivate a team of volunteers and to have full responsibility for the effective running of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager.

    You will be on a zero hour's contract and therefore you will not have regular hours of work but will be on standby to work shifts as and when required.

    What is required?

    We are looking for people with the following:
    • Previous experience of working in a retail environment
    • Cash handling and reconciliation
    • Supervisory experience
    • Experience in a customer facing environment
    • Computer literacy and administration skills
    It would also be great if you had experience:
    • Managing volunteers
