    The post of the Hotel Services Housekeeping Assistant is to clean the hospital Wards, Clinics, Departments and Corridor areas in order that they are maintained to the highest standards of hygiene, environmental cleanliness and appearance.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful candidate will work using a variety of equipment in order to carry out the full range of cleaning services required. Experience in domestic environment would be an advantage but not necessary as full training will be given ,to be able to follow written and verbal instructions regarding use of cleaning chemicals and will be able to demonstrate both the ability to prioritise tasks and the ability to work with minimum supervision, reporting to the Supervisor/Ward Sister.

    You must be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to changes in workload/duties/priorities, and be able to demonstrate the ability to react sensitively to meet a wide range of differing needs together with a positive approach to team working and/or lone working and demonstrate a high standard of interpersonal skills. Ideally you will have an understanding of excellent customer service - although this is not essential.

    Please be aware that this is a very physical and demanding job and will require a lot of time on your feet.

    Essential

  • Be able to demonstrate use of initiative in problem solving
  • Be able to demonstrate ability to prioritise tasks
  • Demonstrate understanding of/training in COSHH
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Be able to demonstrate a high standard of interpersonal skills
  • Be able to demonstrate a positive approach to team working and/or lone working.
  • Be able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension of written instructions sufficient to follow instructions on cleaning chemical containers
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • Basic general secondary education in English and Maths
  • Knowledge of cleaning and food handling procedures
  • Knowledge of COSHH and Health and safety, manual handling
  • Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 Support Services or equivalent
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Previous Experience

    Essential

  • Must be able to demonstrate previous experience of housekeeping in a domestic environment
