    To work closely with the CEO and Board members to provide timely and strategic legal advice to them on various legal matters impacting the business.

    Under the bylaws of the organisation, the Legal Counsel is a Board member/Advisor selected by the members of the Board of Directors.


    You will be a legal professional who has an understanding, or interest in governance and who can work within a highly confidential and fast pace setting.


    To work closely with the CEO and Board members to provide timely and strategic legal advice to them on various legal matters impacting the business.


    • To work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business strategies and initiatives.
    • To ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, working in collaboration with the CEO and Board of Directors.
    • To review various legal agreements, including but not limited to contracts.
    • To identify and mitigate legal risks associated with our operations, keeping abreast of changes in legislation and industry best practices.
    • To review internal policies and procedures to ensure the company operates within legal and ethical guidelines.
    • To support in legal disputes and collaborate with external legal experts when necessary.
    • Providing pragmatic legal advice to all areas of the company, including reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts protecting the Institutes brand and advising on data protection and privacy.
    • To ensure compliance with a corporate governance framework, including board approvals.
    • To develop and deliver legal awareness training to the Board and staff as agreed.
    • Ensuring compliance with internal and external legal rules and policies
    • Collaborating with management and other legal professionals to devise efficient defence strategies.
    • A qualified legal expert with demonstrated commercial awareness and knowledge.
    Significant experience and excellent understanding of UK law
    Membership of a professional legal organisation (e.g., Law Society)
    Ability to communicate and explain legal information and its implications to non-legal personnel to enable strategic decision-making.
    Willingness and ability to understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities as a Company Director
    A flexible but professional approach with a willingness to be contacted on an ad hoc basis.
    Previous working experience as a Legal Counsel for 5 year(s)
    In-depth knowledge of administrative law and procedures
    Knowledge of intellectual property law
    Experience of working in a top twenty law firm
