Do you have a passion for Neurosciences and are keen to work in a busy, high calibre environment to further advance your career and skills set?We can offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our Neurosciences Team.
You will have the opportunity to work with a range of neurological conditions within Neurosurgical, Neurology and Neuro-oncology specialities, including Trauma, spinal cord injury, elective surgery and Guillain Barre Syndrome.
As we are a Major Trauma Centre and specialist Neurosciences Unit, you will experience working with critical care step down and tracheostomy weaning and be exposed to conditions that would only come to a specialist centre.
This opportunity is open to Band 6 Physiotherapists who are now ready to specialise further in their career and develop leadership skills.
Service development opportunities
To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse medical, neurological and musculoskeletal presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available if required.
To supervise, educate and assess the performance of Physiotherapy students, this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with Universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
To maintain Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapy competency in order to participate in the out of hours' respiratory on-call Physiotherapy Service and to assist in the training of junior members of staff to a level of agreed competency.

Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses / CPD
Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
AGILE, ACPIN
Relevant clinical work at Band 6 level providing a broad range of experience in respiratory, elderly care and neurological conditions
Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy Team and/or MDT
Band 6 experience
Experience in a wide range of junior rotations
Significant postgraduate NHS experience
Good knowledge of Neurological, Respiratory and Rehabilitation Physiotherapy
Knowledge and experience of discharge planning and onward referrals
Advanced knowledge of discharge planning
Knowledge of workings of Community Services within rehabilitation
Demonstrate ability to teach, guide and direct Band 5 Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and students in clinical practice
Clinical Educator training completed
