- Prepare initial quotations and tender responses
- Undertake site visits and surveys
- Liaison with clients, stakeholders and government agencies
- Obtaining permissions and consents, including liaising with the Environment Agency fish pass panel
- Act as the technical lead on a range of projects including fish and eel pass design
- Undertake technical report writing and provide specialist knowledge to clients and colleagues
- Project management, including budget and programme management
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff
- Work closely with our engineers and CAD technicians to develop designs
- Review of technical work according to relevant industry guidance and standards (i.e. IFM Fish Pass Manual, WFD, EA SHEWCoP, CDM, FRAP permitting system)
- A minimum of a bachelors degree in scientific or environmental discipline
- Relevant years' Environmental consultancy experience.
- Full driving licence
- Previous knowledge of fish and eel pass design
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Understanding of fisheries legislation and industry standards, including the fish pass application process
- Experience of working in another discipline, such as freshwater fisheries monitoring, geomorphology, river restoration or similar
- Evidence of project management experience and supporting junior staff
- Post graduate qualification in a scientific or environmental discipline
- Relevant years' consultancy experience
- Experience of using MS project
- Chartered Environmentalist (IFM, CIWEM or similar)
- GIS or CAD experience
- Prince 2 project management or similar
- Up to £60,000 depending on experience
- Preferably full time, but other arrangements considered
