Description
Band 6-7 Speech and Language Therapist development post (0.6 WTE)

Trans Voice and Communication Specialist

We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to provide and develop our trans voice and communication service in a band 6-7 development post.

With the opportunities and learning that remote working has brought in recent years, you will provide a service to the whole population of North Wales (spanning East, Centre and West integrated health communities of BCUHB), and does not require the SLT to live locally.

The successful post-holder will have the opportunity to work closely with our current longstanding Specialist SLT to enable the Health Board to have a succession plan to continue to provide and develop a specialist service to meet this rising population need.

You will need demonstrable significant experience working with voice clients, including knowledge and skills in the field of gender identity.

You will need to be a strong independent worker, with experience of tele-health preferable.

You will also need to be a strong team player within the evolving North Wales Gender Identity Service, and will work with the national Welsh Gender Service and Specialist SLTs within other Local Health Boards in Wales to develop and deliver equitable regional services.

In return, we will offer a competency based development programme, with a mentor and enhanced supervision within our Health Board SLT service to enable the successful applicant to progress from band 6 to the band 7 post within an agreed timeframe.

You will also work closely with our local gender team and our All Wales clinical network of SLTs working in this growing field.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
