    The endoscopy department at the Royal United Hospital is looking for 3 Band 6 junior charge nurses to join the team and help us expand and deliver high quality care in an outpatient endoscopy setting. The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to be supported as they develop into the junior sister role. This post is ideal for a band 5 nurse with endoscopy and gastroenterology experience

    Applicants should be keen to learn and develop and understand the national quality and safety standards that affect and inform endoscopy services as well as support a well established team with expanding their knowledge, skills and competence in endoscopic therapies

    Main duties of the job The unit has five busy endoscopy theatres offering a range of investigations and therapies supported by three recovery areas. We have close links with outpatients and Specialist nurses who help us make the patient experience valuable. A band 6 in the endoscopy department will support staff in and assist in providing the resource for delivery upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, ERCP and bronchoscopy as well as our new services of trans nasal endoscopy and patient pre assessment prior to their endoscopic procedure

    We are a nationally accredited endoscopy unit and Bowel Cancer Screening Centre and want to expand the nursing team in order to support this and our existing services to the high standard our patients have come to expect.

    We offer flexible working from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 6.00pm and a Saturday and Sunday morning until midday once a month.     • Registered Nurse with Nursing & Midwifery Council
    • Demonstrable knowledge within the specialty
    • teaching and assessing qualification
    • 2 years post registration training in Endoscopy
    Desirable
    • Diploma/Degree
    • care of the acutely unwell patient
    Knowledge and Experience Essential
    • Clinical Endoscopy experience at band 5
    • Regular experience of taking charge and delegating duties and problem solving throughout shifts
    Desirable
    • Theatre/anaesthetic nurse experience
    • Evidence of playing a key role in introducing new initiatives/changes in current or previous roles
    Specific skills Essential
    • Demonstrates evidence of well developed clinical practice including assessment of people's health and well being
    • Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
    • able to work under own initiative within the boundaries of the role
    • Demonstrates an empathetic and caring approach to patients and relatives ensure that patients' dignity & respect is maintained at all times
