We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Acoustic Consultant to join our growing team in Birmingham. You will be working on projects across Buildings, Environment and Transportation sectors in the UK and further a-field.

Current projects include masterplan support and planning for the expansive redevelopment of the former Smithfield Market in Birmingham and a number of other landmark projects around the city including the new Masterchef studios in Digbeth.

Based in Birmingham, you will be supported by a motivated and capable team of acousticians located around the UK.

To succeed in this role, you must be a team player able to support our extensive and interesting portfolio of work and have relevant experience in acoustic consultancy.

You will join our Acoustics
department
As our new Acoustic Consultant, you will be part of our award-winning dynamic UK team of 13 people. The team is part of a thriving specialist international group of over 100 acousticians in over 12 countries.

In the UK, the team operates across 4 offices (Cambridge, London, Birmingham and Manchester) and wins a third of its work from external clients and the balance in collaboration with our own environmental, transport and building engineers.

We deliver a wide variety of environmental and buildings projects ranging from a growing portfolio of Data Centres across the UK, Europe and the US to new schools and hospitals and sustainable places for people to live and work in UK.

We are supporting projects from the Antarctic to Aarhus but with a real focus on continued success in the Midlands.

Our team is highly experienced, engaged and motivated and committed to delivering excellence to our clients in all areas of noise and vibration design.

Our pipeline is diverse, robust and most importantly, resilient. Ramboll is a full member of the Association of Noise Consultants.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Undertaking baseline environmental noise and vibration surveys
  • Authoring technical reports
  • Acoustic modelling (CADNA A and Odeon)
  • Effectively managing own workload and project managing projects
  • Residential, Roads, Bridges and Industrial led EIA preparation
  • Site inspections on Building projects and PCT testing
  • Liaison with Ramboll Environment and Health and Buildings teams
  • Technical support for colleagues and contributing to our continued growth and success.

For this role, we believe your starting point is:


  • Acoustic related Degree, IOA Diploma or Masters' Degree
  • Full driving license
  • Relevant experience in acoustic consultancy
  • Proven experience in project delivery and managing own workload
  • Desire to or already working towards CEng
  • Associate Member of Institute of Acoustics(working towards MIOA)
  • Proficient user of CADNA-A software
