    About the Role:

    Liverpool City Council has embarked on a major improvement programme that involves all parts of the organisation. Transport & Highways is especially focussed on delivering a range of improvements across the whole directorate. It has recently completed a service review that has identified the need for a number of positions within the Road safety team to help meet its Vision Zero aspirations.

    As one of two Road Safety Co-ordinators you will be responsible for creating and delivering effective interventions to reduce road casualties and increase active travel across the city in line with the council's Road Safety Plan. You will be instrumental in introducing the school travel plan programme to Liverpool's schools and developing a range of road safety education programmes and projects to complement this aspiration. You will also assist in the assessment, procurement, and delivery of the School Crossing Service programme.

    About the candidate:

    As a Road Safety Co-ordinator, you will have:

  • A practical understanding of the road safety environment and the delivery of road casualty reduction interventions.
  • Experience of delivering road safety education to schools and colleges.
  • Experience of the school travel plan process and a commitment to the promotion of active travel.
  • Confidence in delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Responsibilities:

    As a Road safety Co-ordinator with Liverpool City Council, you will:

  • Work with the Principal Road Safety Co-ordinator to introduce and encourage the growth of school travel plans and promote active travel.
  • Take responsibility for the identification, preparation and implementation of innovative road safety education, training, and publicity campaigns.
  • Develop partnership working with both internal and external colleagues to further the council's vision zero goal.
  • Assist in the delivery of the school crossing patrol service.
  • What You'll Need:

  • You will have relevant experience in the field of road safety.
  • You will have previous proven experience of delivering road safety education to schools and colleges.
  • You will have a good working knowledge of travel planning and active travel
  • You will have a proven record of implementing road safety campaigns to the public.
