    Description

    Duties: Job Summary Prioritizes andcoordinates ultrasound exams with nursing units radiologists andreferring physicians. Performs ultrasound exams in accordance todepartmental protocols and standards. Provides adequate patientcare as it relates to the exam requested. Operates ultrasound andassociated equipment with proficiency. Essential Functions Examinesrequests and verifies orders on each assigned patient AssistsRadiologist in performance of invasive procedures Evaluatestechnical quality of exam and develops a superior varied techniquefor elevated efficiency in the department Supports and contributesto the PatientCentered Care Philosophy by understanding that everystaff member is a Caregiver whose role is to meet the needs of eachpatient. Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant DirectorLead Sonographer and/or Engineer. Operates the Radiology computersystem to include entering and charging exams and supplies.
    Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Assistsin keeping the area completely stocked.

    Adheres to departmentalrules and regulations while performing in a professional manneralways Physical Requirements Requires moderate to heavy physicalefforts in lifting and moving patients equipment and supplies up to600 pounds with assistance.

    Work requires walking standing reachingstooping bending pushing pulling and lifting during normaloperation. Requires mental skills to read and comprehend patientorders and technical materials. Motor coordination needed tooperate heavy and delicate equipment. Intact sense of sight andhearing.

    Skills: Certified bythe American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers orAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) required. BLS HCPcertification from AHA required. Interpersonal skillsrequired

    Education: Graduateof a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound programpreferred.
