    Job summary

    Please come and join our friendly team in our Early Pregnancy and Fertility unit. We are a small team based at Torbay Hospital providing support and care to women on their early pregnancy journey.

    We run daily clinics managing the care of early pregnancy and the management of pregnancy loss. The band 2 Healthcare Assistant role is to support the nursing staff in these clinics and provide administrative support for the unit.

    Therefore good IT skills are essential to this role. We provide the highest standards for care for our women and are seeking someone to join our team who works to these same standards. Youwill be responsible for providing both nursing care and administration within our Early pregnancy team.

    This involves supporting the nursing and medical teams in The Early Pregnancy and Fertility clinics to ensure they run smoothly. This role includes phlebotomy and supporting women and their partners/supporters that attend the clinic. This role also includes the administration needs of the team.

    The role is 20 hours a week, working - Monday to Friday.

    Main duties of the job

  • Support women and their partners/supporters during their clinic visit, showing an awareness of their emotional and physical needs.
  • Provide clerical support for clinics which includes, note preparation, tracering notes, photocopying, taking phone calls, booking appointments, recording clinic outcomes.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform routine observations and have knowledge of their relevance, knowing when to report to the nurse/midwife-in-charge.

  • Ensure patients attending for blood tests are seen in a timely manner
  • To have an awareness of routine tests and examinations that thenursing/medical staff will perform and ensure the treatment room isprepared with all relevant equipment required.
  • Maintain stock levels of equipment.
