Health & Safety Specialist, Standards & Systems:

What you need to know about the role

Working alongside a team of 6, you will develop, manage, own and modernise British Steel's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), whilst aligning to ISO45001.


You will be the overall owner of the HSMS and will develop the individual processes to comply with legal and company requirements.


You will own the audit and monitoring process to enable measurement of H&S performance against agreed targets, standards and management system requirements and support the business during visits by the competent authorities.


You will know how to assess the impact of external influences on H&S processes in order to recommend and develop changes to the business management system and procedures.


What we need to know about you

We are looking for someone with excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, who is confident in liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of business such as employee representatives (TU Safety Reps), Business H&S Professionals, external enforcement agencies, Senior Management Teams ensuring business compliance with health and safety legislative requirements, industry best practice, and best available techniques.


You will have significant H&S management experience, hold NEBOSH General Certificate and ISO45001 Lead Auditor certification, have experience in manufacturing and/or construction environment and be a strategic thinker who is able to identify improvement opportunities through analysis of data.
