    Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Dundee Health & Social Care Partnership as a Principal Speech & Language Therapist with a specific clinical remit within Community Mental Health Services across the three localities in Tayside.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical assessments, diagnostic judgements and establishing a range of treatment interventions to individuals who have mental health conditions along with barriers to communication and understanding and/or eating, drinking and swallowing disorders. You will also devise, co-ordinate and deliver training to a range of individuals and stakeholders.

Core to your application will be your ability to demonstrate a highly specialist level of clinical skill, expertise and experience relevant to the clinical area. You will be supported by the wider Speech & Language Therapy Team including support worker sessions and be given relevant additional learning opportunities relevant to your clinical role as it develops.

You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong value set which you will demonstrate in all aspects of this role. Experience of working with a diverse range of statutory, private and 3rd Sector agencies will be invaluable. You must be able to work as part of team as well as autonomously, and be able to demonstrate the ability to deal with challenging situations often to tight deadlines and competing priorities.

Informal enquiries are welcomed to: Judy Goodfellow, Speech & Language Therapy Manager, Dundee Community Learning Disability & Mental Health Services via or Telephone

Hours of work : Your part-time hours would be conducted during a Monday - Friday working week in the first instance, however there is a long term aspiration for our community services to be 7 days per week which you would be required to participate in, therefore a degree of flexible working may be required.

NHS Tayside is committed to equality and diversity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.

Short-listed applicants will be contacted by email. Please check your emails regularly, including your junk/spam folder.

    Additional Hours Info on Advert

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
