    Contract: 9 months (inside IR35)

    Location: London, UK

    Flexi: Hybrid (2 days per week onsite max)

    JOB SCOPE



    The role holder will be responsible for managing the office of the CSO, coordinating across workstreams, projects and deliverables. The successful candidate will assist the CSO with the execution of the sustainability strategy and support development of the business priorities, ensuring alignment with other key stakeholders internally. The candidate will provide senior level oversight on key sustainability matters and need to navigate the bank to ensure key stakeholders are kept abreast of developments and involved in executing on deliverables.

    The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation), strong stakeholder engagement skills, be results-orientated, able to juggle competing priorities (often under time pressure) and have a proactive and can-do attitude.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to gain senior-level exposure and develop a strong working knowledge of sustainability and sustainable finance.

    Responsibilities

    Strategy
    • Act as a primary function-wide contact and triage point for internal and external stakeholders to connect with the CSO organisation
    • Provide strategic guidance and senior oversight of executive-level presentations including for CIB MT, Group MT, CSC Board and PLC Board
    • Support on budgeting process and support a disciplined budget and cost approach across the team
    • Support the embedding of the Sustainability agenda across the Group by sharing relevant updates and information with internal stakeholders within CSO organisation and beyond
    • Support junior resources in the Disclosures team to help guide horizon scanning to identify sustainability trends relevant to the business and wider sustainability strategy
    • Collaborate with sustainability comms to develop engagement plans for key set-piece events to maximise the impact of CSO / CSO MT presence at events (e.g. COP, Davos, Climate Weeks)
    • Act as a sounding board for the wider team on key initiatives and strategic projects
    Business
    • Manage the schedule and quality/timely submission of all Sustainability related papers/ updates to CIB MT, and the Group Management Team and Board Committees (CSC, Board, Subsidiary Boards) and translate often technical input and information, alongside commercial analysis into executive level-outputs
    • Work collaboratively both across the SF business and with wider CCIB and CPBB representatives to support gathering of key performance data and achievements
    • Act as a key conduit between Sustainability Comms and marketing to assist in the positioning and messaging internally and externally of the Sustainability Strategy
    • Support the delivery of the Group's annual sustainability disclosure cycle
    • Support the creation of key messaging and content for thought leadership,
    Processes
    • Fulfil selected COO functions e.g. mapping of job families, maintenance of cost centres, support for raising of JDs and hiring processes
    • Act as the point-person for certain operational matters e.g. business continuity planning
    • Oversee processes including new joiner onboarding,
    • Look to create leverage and capacity for the CSO and other CSO MT/LT members
    Key Stakeholders
    • Members from across the CSO organisation and in particular the CSO MT and LT
    • Key business partners in both CIB and CPBB
    • Key functional partners (e.g. CABM, CFCC)
    • Fellow BPMs across the network
    Qualifications
    • Degree (BA or equivalent)
    • Very strong communication skills, both written and oral
    • Excellent presentation design skills (PowerPoint)
    • Experience in business management in an operational, planning and project management (or similar) role would be beneficial and ideally within a financial organisation
    • Experience in drafting papers, documents and reports
    • Ability to identify, research and articulate key sustainability opportunities and risk
    • Experience in a sustainability-related role; ability to demonstrate knowledge of key sustainability concepts and topics
    • Ability to prioritise multiple deliverables with demonstrable organisational and time management skills
    • Effective collaborative skills that contribute to positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
