    Job summary

    This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our department as a Band 3 Senior Assistant Technical Officer.

    We are seeking a forward thinking and highly motivated Assistant Technical Officer to deliver a high quality, safe and effective pharmacy service.

    The post holder will join a team of specialist and generalist clinical pharmacists, medicines optimisation technicians and pharmacy assistants in delivering high quality, safe and effective care to patients and service users.

    They will participate effectively in the daily dispensary duties and delivery of services including labelling and dispensing medicines including controlled drugs, dealing with ward stock, SOP development and assisting with supply chain management of Pharmaceuticals. This will include ordering, invoicing, distribution, delivery and general management of stock control of medicines used at RNOH.

    This is a full time role ( hours) post for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to play an integral part of the Pharmacy team.

    Main duties of the job

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, forward thinking and pro-active Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our progressive team at RNOH.

    There is extensive scope for the successful applicant to develop on both a personal and professional level through exposure to all departmental activities and the opportunity for further roles in the future.

    The post holder will be required to possess good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively and methodically in busy environments both independently and within a team. Good computer skills are essential. Ideally, the post holder should have previous experience in Pharmacy.

    Job responsibilities

    The post holder will be:

  • Responsible for the procurement of pharmaceuticals for RNOH
  • Dealing with stock shortages and reporting as necessary
  • Work with the finance and commissioning team in ensuring processing invoices Ensuring appropriate claims are made in time
  • Work with other ATOs and pharmacy technicians providing dispensary support services
  • Assist in dispensing inpatient, outpatient, TTAs and Controlled Drugs
  • Managing accurate stock levels in Dispensary
  • Participate in ward top ups and other distribution services to the wards
  • Liaise with clinicians to ensure Homecare prescriptions are provided on a timely basis
  • Work with other ATOs to order IV fluids and medical gases for the Hospital

  • Hospital pharmacy experience including dispensary and procurement
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working and dealing with internal and external clients in conveying the correct information
