Are you a recent graduate with an interest in developing a career in Finance within the Higher Education sector? If so then we would love to hear from you, as we have an exciting opportunity for an individual to train as an accountant within the Planning and Finance Department of the University.

We will support you with your professional qualifications and provide opportunities for you to gain experience in all areas of the department.

In return we would like the postholder to be enthusiastic, committed to their studies, be a team player, have a can-do attitude and a desire to learn about the University and how finance supports the University's business operations.

The post is initially for three years on a fixed-term basis.

As trainee accountant the postholder will gain experience while they study by working on a rotational basis across all teams within the department - Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Accounts, Credit Control and Management Accounts.

Throughout the postholder's journey in becoming a qualified accountant, an internal mentor will be assigned to provide support, advice and guidance.

The role will be varied, and the postholder will be involved with a wide range of tasks as they rotate across the department.

Examples of some typical activities will include:
supplier set-up, data entry and transactional processing, journals and debt management. There will also be opportunities to participate with wider University activities such as Graduation and Clearing.

Previous finance experience is desirable, however, being able to prioritise own workload to achieve deadlines, a working knowledge of Microsoft packages including excel and demonstrable experience of providing advice and guidance to stakeholders is essential.
