At Mountbatten we arelooking for an individual who will provide advanced Physiotherapy input andpromote a philosophy of empowerment and enablement via collaborative workingand motivating others.

    Main duties of the job

    Thesuccessful Physiotherapist candidate will provide a specialist and skilledPhysiotherapy service to patients under the care of Mountbatten Hospice acrossthe Inpatient Unit and Outpatients department, focusing on what matters to theindividual and using innovation and experience to achieve a person-centredapproach.

    This role will be key inpromoting a philosophy of empowerment and enablement across Hospiceservices, supporting and encouraging apositive attitude towards risk taking, and recognising the cultural andspiritual needs of the individual and family.The Senior Physiotherapist will play a leading role in identifyingopportunities for service development to further Mountbatten's reach andincrease our impact on those who could benefit from our services and support,in particular the optimisation of health and wellbeing via education,non-pharmacological symptom management and patient activation.

    To be successful for this roleyou will need to be a skilled Physiotherapist, with experience of working in avariety of settings. You will have excellent clinical, administration,co-ordination and leadership skills.

    As an experienced Physiotherapist, youwill exercise complex levels of judgement, discretion and decision making inclinical care. You will be able to demonstrate advanced practice skills toidentify, assess, diagnose, treat, and manage people affected by life limitingdisease. Flexibility and creative thinking are key to the role.

    Job responsibilities

    Overview of Role:

    Providean expert and innovative Physiotherapy service to palliative care patientsfocusing within the Inpatient Unit, out-patient department, and end of lifecommunity patients (where appropriate), working within the Rehabilitation teamat Mountbatten Hampshire. Participate in the continuing development of thephysiotherapy service, rehabilitation team and wider services as per theMountbatten strategic plan. Hold service-wide responsibilities according toskills and training, such as fire warden and moving and handling trainer.Promote and be an advocate for palliative rehabilitation and enablement acrossthe services.

    Key Tasks:

    Toperform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with complex anddiverse palliative care needs. To provide, develop and deliver individualisedtreatment programmes, and to undertake these tasks as an autonomouspractitioner.

    Tohold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a mixed caseloadbetween inpatients and community, working without direct supervision.

    To facilitate and promote a palliativerehabilitation and enablement approach within the Hospice philosophy throughoutthe organisation and to otherhealth and social care providers.

    Alongside colleagues, coordinate and develop the dayto day operation of the PhysiotherapyTeam.

    Act as a specialist physiotherapy palliative careresource; providing consultative advice, education, and support to members ofthe multidisciplinary and Primary Health and Social Care teams.

    Provide moving and handling training to staff andvolunteers, working with other Moving and handling trainers.

    Continually develop and share own knowledge andexpertise in the following areas:

    o Managementof staff and volunteers

    o Leadership

    o Clinicalspecialisms within palliative care

  • Articulate and able to clearly record professional activity in patient records, reports, etc.
  • Current driving full licence and access to a vehicle for business use

  • Understanding of a palliative rehabilitative and enablement approach
