Overview:


First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client - leaders in the field of ground/site investigations and drilling services - to recruit a Graduate Field Engineer to join their team based in Durham.

The Graduate Field Engineer will be assisting with and implementing the organisation of projects in the field, as well as the office, providing input as directed into the planning aspects to the project.

You will be accountable for field-based logistics, includingensuring that the correct equipment is used and maintained on site.

The Graduate Field Engineer is expected to ensure that all technical and site work is carried out to a high standard, safely, on time and within budget.

This role will be primarily field basedthroughout the region for which the Engineer's 'parent' office is responsible.

There could also be a requirement to work UK-wide on certain projects, with a potential for overseas work as well.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Execution of ground investigations.
  • Contract management on site to including delivery of projects on time and to maximize profits from each contract.
  • Contribute expertise and provide input into the siteworks of new projects.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports.
  • Maintain an effective line of communication between site and the office.
  • Maintain courteous and professional relations with clients and build upon the reputation of the Company within the industry.
  • Build effective working relationships with other technical specialists within the Company.
  • Manage own time to ensure effective use of both billable and nonbillable hours.
  • Work with Principal engineers to develop personal objectives.
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities and training and manage own career by being accountable for one's behaviour, performance, and development.
  • Ensure alignment of behaviours, decisions, and actions to meet standards expected at the Company.
  • Contribute to and support management plans to enhance Company performance and profitability.
  • Support the maintenance of the quality, environmental and health and safety accreditations.
  • Act in a professional and safe manner supporting the safeguarding of others in the workplace.
  • Assist the Project Managers in monitoring contractual and assurance performance.
  • Ensure Electronic Access to all relevant projects is kept up to date.
  • Keep abreast of key economic factors, technological advances and political change that may affect the geoenvironmental industry.
  • Evaluate information to make sound decisions to manage risk and to drive safe, reliable, and sustainable operations and protect licence to operate.

Skills and Experience:


  • Educated to BSc degree level [MSc preferred], or equivalent, ideally in Geo-Environmental, Geo-Technical, or Earth Science disciplines.
  • Previous experience in a similar ground/site investigation and drilling services environment [preferred].
