    The role
    The purpose of this role is to provide the first line management capability for vehicle inspection, service and repair activity on a vast range of military equipment within Catterick main workshop. This role is to manage a team of mechanical engineers and electrical engineers, ensuring the team have the correct SQEP, tools and processes they need to safely deliver outputs against the plan(s). They ensure systems are updated providing accurate information for decision making and giving visibility for the wider business to support.

    Day to day, you'll:


    • Ensure the delivery teams have the necessary people, tools, and processes they need to safely deliver outputs against the plan(s).

    • Provide effective leadership to your team, ensuring health and safety, quality, output, and adherence to Babcock principles

    • Drive continuous improvement within your section, optimsing processes and resources for enhanced efficiency

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date systems to provide valuable information for decision-making and improved visibility for the wider business.

    • Lead recruitment activities, manage team member performance, conduct grievance procedures, and oversee capability development in line with company policies.

    This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and will be based on-site at MOD Catterick, near Richmond.

    Essential experience of the Workshop Supervisor

    • Completed (or working towards) British Safety Council Level 2 qualification

    • Proven understanding of lean management principles

    • Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate, coach, and provide constructive feedback

    • Excellent multi-tasking abilities

    • Ability to have difficult conversations and make informed decisions based on available information

    Qualifications for the Workshop Supervisor

    • Minimum of Level 2 in the National Qualification Framework (NQF) or equivalent workplace experience (e.g., Intermediate apprenticeship, Level 2 NVQ, GCSEs A*-C, O Levels A-C, CSE Grade 1)

    Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
