    Principal/Senior Control Engineer - EV - Northern Ireland - £40k - £70k

    One of my key clients working in the EV sector is recruiting for a Principal/Senior Control Engineer.

    I am seeking a seasoned Control Engineer who is based in Northern Ireland or interested in relocation to Northern Ireland who will lead the design, development, and implementation of control systems for ground breaking projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of control algorithms and contributing to the mission of revolutionising energy and transportation.

    Role: Principal/Senior Controls Engineer

    Salary: £40k to £70k

    Location - Northern Ireland

    Working Arrangement - Hybrid

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the design, development, and optimization of control systems for projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and performance requirements.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define control system requirements and specifications, and provide technical expertise on controls engineering aspects.
    • Develop and implement control algorithms, software, and hardware solutions for real-time control of electromechanical systems, such as electric propulsion systems and renewable energy converters.
    • Conduct modelling, simulation, and analysis of dynamic systems, and utilize control theory principles to optimize system performance, stability, and efficiency.
    • Oversee the testing, validation, and tuning of control systems, using simulation tools and experimental methods to ensure robustness and reliability in diverse operating conditions.
    • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the controls engineering team.
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in controls engineering, integrating new developments into projects.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Proven expertise in control system design, analysis, and implementation, with hands-on experience in modelling, simulation, and programming of control algorithms.
    • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar tools for control system design and simulation.
    • Strong understanding of control theory, dynamic systems, feedback control, and digital signal processing.
    • Experience with real-time control systems, embedded software development, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with electric propulsion systems, renewable energy technologies, or electric vehicles is a plus.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
    • Effective communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
