    The Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS) is seeking to appoint a Specialist/ Biomedical Scientist to work in our busy, friendly Haematology Laboratory at York Teaching Hospitals NHS FT Trust.

    Based primarily in York, your role will be to carry out analytical tests in the Haematology and Transfusion laboratory.

    You will rotate through all sections of the department under the supervision of a Senior Biomedical Scientist. Once suitably qualified and trained you will contribute to working a shift system that involve nights and weekend work.

    Applicants should be HCPC registered and further training towards completion of an IBMS Specialist Diploma will be supported if required.

    To lead your own section of the Haematology and Transfusion laboratory, taking part in all aspects of its running and development.

    To carry out the analysis of patient samples, and provide interpretive advice in the provision of a Clinical Laboratory Service according to departmental SOPs and departmental Quality Assurance Policy.

    To use and maintain highly specialist scientific instruments for the diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

    Previous experience of working in a pathology laboratory environment
    Willingness to attend relevant courses and undertake specialist training as required

    IBMS-accredited BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree
    Pre-reg HCPC registration
