St Mary's Catholic High School is an 11-16, co-educational, comprehensive school based in the heart of Croydon. It has been serving the local community since its foundation in 1851. Due to our increasing school roll, the Governors wish to appoint a Teacher of English and Drama for September 2024.
The closing date for applications September 2024 is Wednesday, 8th May at 12noon.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching high-quality lessons, while nurturing and inspiring our students. You will be joining a team that enthuse and motivate students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy learning environment in line with the core principles of our Mission Statement.
Our English teachers have the highest expectations of – and for – our students, and are committed to instilling a love of reading and learning in order to create independent, inquisitive and critical thinkers, who are able to make connections and draw links across their learning journey. Drama has been a popular subject at the school, presently taught through the English curriculum at Key Stage 3, and as an option subject in Key Stage 4.
In the summer of 2022, the school achieved an excellent set of examination results, with a Progress 8 score in English which placed it as the highest of all Croydon schools, and well above the national average. English has played significant role in the raising the overall standards at the school.
In November 2021, Ofsted rated the school as Good, stating: 'St Mary's Catholic High School is a deeply caring community.
